Hydraulic tiles are a representative element of Barcelona, being a fundamental element of Catalan modernist architecture from the end of the 19th century and widespread in countries of the Mediterranean basin and the Middle East.

The Catalan term Trencadis designates a mosaic made of pieces of ceramic tiles –usually abstract in design– characteristic of modernist architecture and in particular of the work of GaudĂ. In the illustration, a detail of the dragon located on the steps of Park GĂĽell in Barcelona has been used.
Triangles, Squares, Nature and Mosaic are lined, Modernista is not.
